UNRWA: Israeli ongoing siege on Gaza severest since war outbreak
[19/ April/2025]

Geneva - Saba:

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated that the stifling blockade imposed by the Israeli entity on Gaza for nearly seven weeks is more severe than the initial period after October 7, 2023.

In a report published on Friday on the current situation in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to an Israeli war of extermination for more than a year and a half, UNRWA stated that 420,000 people have been displaced again in the Gaza Strip since March 18 due to renewed Israeli attacks.

The agency confirmed that the lack of humanitarian aid entering Gaza and the ongoing blockade imposed by the Israeli entity for nearly seven weeks are more severe than the initial period after October 7, 2023.

It stated that as a result of the blockade, vital humanitarian supplies in Gaza, including food, fuel, medical aid, and vaccines for children, are rapidly running out.

UNRWA noted that many civilians have lost their lives due to violent attacks by the Israeli entity following the breach of the ceasefire agreement on March 18.

In early March 2025, the first phase of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and the Israeli entity, which went into effect on January 19, 2025, under Egyptian and Qatari mediation, ended.
