Belarusian Jelena Ostapenko advanced to the semifinals of the Stuttgart Open after defeating Poland's Iga Cviontek in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Ostapenko defeated her opponent 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals, her best performance in the tournament's history, having previously reached the last eight in 2018.
Ostapenko will face Russia's Ekaterina Alexandrova in the next round.
Alexandrova continued her run as one of the favorites to win the tournament, beating world number three Jessica Pegula of the United States.
