Arab Parliament meetings start in Iraqi capital Baghdad

The four-day meetings of the Arab Parliament kicked off in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, with the presence of 60 representatives of the parliaments of the Arab countries.

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Mayahi, said in a speech during Saturday's meeting that "the parliament begins its work with a joint meeting between Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani and Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al-Mayahi, marking the start of the parliamentary meetings, followed by holding a session of the Palestine Committee, then the meetings of the standing committees of the Arab Parliament, which are four committees," indicating that "the events will conclude with the fourth session of the first session of the fourth legislative term of the Arab Parliament on April 21," Al-Mayahi said.

The Arab Parliament consists of 88 members, four members for each of the 22 member states of the League of Arab States. The Parliament has four standing committees, namely the Foreign, Political and National Security Committee, the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee, the Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Committee, the Social, Educational and Cultural Affairs Committee, the Women and Youth Committee.
