Dr. Hanan Balkhy, Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Eastern Mediterranean, called on the new U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to allow the entry of medicines and other humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Balkhy stated, "I hope he [Huckabee] goes to see the situation firsthand. Her appeal comes as Gaza’s humanitarian system teeters on the brink of complete collapse due to Israel’s blockade on aid since the breakdown of the ceasefire and prisoner-exchange agreement.
