Authorities in Chad announced the escape of more than 100 prisoners from a prison near the city of Mongo in the Guéra province in central Chad, resulting in the deaths of three people and the injury of three others.
Officials said the riot erupted Friday evening after inmates complained of food shortages. They stormed the prison director's office and seized weapons, leading to an armed clash with guards in which the provincial governor was injured. According to Agence France-Presse, approximately 132 prisoners escaped.
