Hamas, Israeli delegates arrive in Cairo for new talks

Palestinian media reported that a new round of negotiations is expected to begin within the next two days in an attempt to reach a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel.

The Palestinian Ma'an News Agency reported that a Hamas delegation is expected to arrive in Cairo to discuss a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

For its part, the Qatari-backed Al-Araby Al-Jadeed channel reported that an Israeli delegation arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to continue negotiations with Hamas.

A source said that the delegation's arrival in Cairo appears to be the result of American pressure.

According to the source, "American pressure is parallel to the pressures on the ground facing the Israeli army," noting that the delegation met yesterday with the Egyptian mediation team from the General Intelligence Service. The topic discussed was Hamas's proposal regarding preparations for a comprehensive deal.

An Egyptian source familiar with Cairo's mediation efforts between Hamas and the Israeli government revealed to the Qatari channel that an Israeli delegation has arrived in the Egyptian capital with the aim of finding a way to resume the stalled negotiations. The source explained that the delegation arrived Sunday evening and met yesterday with the Egyptian mediation team from the General Intelligence Service.

The two sides discussed the latest developments in the war and the proposal presented by Hamas during the final speech by the head of the Hamas delegation, Khalil al-Hayya, regarding preparations for a comprehensive deal to end the war in Gaza.

According to the source, the Israeli delegation identified specific names of the hostages to be released, indicating that the delegation's visit to Cairo likely came under American pressure, as they demanded, among other things, the release of hostages who hold American citizenship.

The source expected a breakthrough in the negotiations in the coming days, noting that American pressure for the release of the prisoners.
