Turkey announced today, Wednesday, that 151 people were injured after jumping from heights in panic following the earthquake that struck Istanbul.
The authorities in Istanbul stated, "151 people were injured due to jumping from elevated areas out of fear of the earthquake," noting that "there were no fatalities."
Earlier today, Istanbul was hit by a strong earthquake measuring 6.02 on the Richter scale.
Reuters reported that "a powerful earthquake, measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, struck the Marmara Sea region in Turkey."
It added that "residents of Istanbul and several neighboring Turkish provinces felt the tremors," according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
