Washington - SABA:
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that negotiations to end the war in Ukraine are nearing completion, while criticizing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's stance on Crimea.
Trump stated that Zelenskyy's refusal to legally recognize Russia's annexation of Crimea "severely harms peace talks with Russia."
He questioned: "If Zelenskyy wants Crimea, why didn't he fight for it when it was handed over to Russia without resistance?" referencing the 2014 annexation. Clarified that "no one is asking Zelenskyy to recognize Crimea as Russian territory."
Trump emphasized that both sides are "very close to a deal," but warned that Zelenskyy "lacks sufficient bargaining power" and must act now to finalize it.
