The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed that US tariffs on Beijing are a tsunami for global trade.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Thursday: "The US tariff tsunami disrupts World Trade Organization rules and harms people around the world."
She added, "Any negotiations between the US and China must be conducted on the basis of mutual respect and equality."
Previously, Beijing accused Washington of blatantly violating World Trade Organization rules and undermining the legitimate rights and interests of other countries.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry warned in a statement that the United States had blatantly violated WTO rules by imposing unilateral tariffs on Chinese goods, undermining the legitimate rights and interests of other countries.
China stressed that these US actions constitute a "serious violation" of WTO rules and harm economic and trade relations between the two countries and the international trading system as a whole. It emphasized that it will take measures to protect its legitimate rights and interests, including filing a formal complaint with the WTO.
China also denounced Washington's policy, describing it as "economic bullying" and a "trade war" that achieves no victory for either side.
