Two International Organizations warn of depleting medical supplies & waste accumulation in Gaza
[26/ April/2025]
Gaza – Saba:
The World Health Organization (WHO) warned on Saturday that medical supplies in Gaza are on the verge of running out, noting that 16 of its trucks are awaiting permission to enter the besieged enclave.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) cautioned that the accumulation of waste in Gaza is contributing to the spread of diseases.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated in a post on X : "We have reached a grim and critical moment in Gaza."

He added, "The World Food Programme’s food supplies inside the strip have been exhausted, despite sufficient aid at border crossings to feed a million people—yet it is not reaching those in need."

Similarly, UNRWA reported on Saturday that the war on Gaza has led to massive waste buildup, exacerbating disease risks.

In a Facebook post, UNRWA noted that it continues to provide solid waste collection and disposal services where possible, adding that its teams recently cleared 150 sewage openings serving over 23,000 displaced people. The agency stressed the urgent need to lift the blockade and resume a ceasefire.

Meanwhile, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, Michael Fakhri, revealed that the number of children suffering from malnutrition in Gaza surged by 80% in March alone.
