Moscow - Saba:
Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the North Korean forces who participated in the liberation of Russia's Kursk Oblast on Monday.
The Kremlin's official website quoted Putin as saying, speaking about the liberation of Kursk Oblast: "Units of the Korean People's Army selflessly participated in repelling the neo-Nazi formations of the Kiev regime that invaded our territory."
Putin explained that the participation of these soldiers "was carried out in full compliance with international law, in accordance with the letter and spirit of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea of June 19, 2024."
In particular, in accordance with Article 4 of the Treaty, which stipulates the provision of immediate military assistance in the event of an armed attack against one of the contracting parties.
Putin continued: "Our Korean friends acted out of a sense of solidarity, justice, and true brotherhood, and we highly appreciate this. We express our sincere thanks and gratitude personally to the Head of State (Korean leader) Comrade Kim Jong Un, the entire leadership, and the people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea."
He added, "The Russian people will never forget the feat of the Korean Special Forces soldiers who participated in the expulsion of Ukrainian forces from Kursk Oblast."
He added, "We commend the heroism, high level of professionalism, and dedication shown by the Korean soldiers who defended our homeland as if it were their own, side by side with Russian soldiers."
Putin described the Korean soldiers who participated in the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk Oblast as having "honorably and courageously fulfilled their duty and are covered with unfading glory."
In his report to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the liberation of Kursk Oblast, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov specifically noted the assistance provided by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk Oblast.
He added, "I would like to separately note the participation of military personnel from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the liberation of the border areas of Kursk Oblast, who, in accordance with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between our two countries, provided significant assistance in defeating the Ukrainian Armed Forces' positioned group."
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced last Saturday that Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, informed Russian President Vladimir Putin of the completion of the operation to liberate the Kursk Oblast from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
