The Hague - Saba:
The South African delegation before the International Court of Justice on Tuesday stated that Gaza has turned into hell, calling for Israel to be held accountable for its crimes in the besieged Strip.
This came during a speech delivered by the South African representative at the public hearing of the International Court of Justice on Tuesday, which was dedicated to examining Israel's humanitarian obligations towards the Palestinians, more than 50 days after it imposed a comprehensive blockade on the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip.
The South African representative emphasized that Israel is violating international conventions as an occupying power.
He pointed out that Israel is deliberately preventing the entry of any humanitarian aid into Gaza and is deliberately persecuting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to strangle the Palestinians.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the highest court of the United Nations in The Hague, began public hearings on Monday for an advisory opinion on the Israeli occupation's obligations towards the United Nations and its agencies and bodies in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The court stated that 42 states and international organizations will participate in the oral arguments before the court, which will be held at the Peace Palace in The Hague from April 28 to May 2.
