Tehran – Saba:
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani condemned on Friday the U.S. sanctions against UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, calling them "blatant hypocrisy" and asserting that "the truth cannot be suppressed."
In a post on X, Kanaani stated: "The truth cannot be suppressed by sanctions. The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Ms. Francesca Albanese, faced sanctions and arrogance for revealing the truth and standing firm against crimes of genocide, occupation, and apartheid."
He further noted that "this sanctions decision coincides with the warm reception of war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, who is pursued by the International Criminal Court, in Washington."
Kanaani added: "Today, you are displaying complete , blatant hypocrisy, and the world is witnessing it."
In a move widely seen as biased in favor of the Zionist regime and its brutal crimes in occupied Palestine and Gaza, the United States imposed sanctions on Wednesday on Albanese, who has documented Israeli genocide against Palestinians in Gaza in multiple reports and called for accountability for those involved.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrote in a post on X: "Today, I am sanctioning UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese for her illegitimate and shameful efforts to push the International Criminal Court to target American and Israeli officials and companies."
