Moscow - Saba:
Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian President's Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and Chairman of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, stated that the European Union, under the leadership of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, is facing deindustrialization and economic decline.
Dmitriev wrote on his X account, as reported by Sputnik: "The European Union under von der Leyen's leadership: 30% tariffs from the United States + exorbitant energy prices + stifling bureaucracy = deindustrialization and decline. Add to that uncontrolled immigration, censorship, weak capital markets, and record youth unemployment.
US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the United States would impose a 30% tariff on goods from the European Union, starting August 1, while maintaining previous sectoral tariffs.
He explained in a message posted on his Truth Social platform that "if the European Union decides to raise tariffs on US goods, the United States will add this amount to its tariffs imposed on EU goods."
