The Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, announced on Sunday that they, in coordination with the Al-Qassam Brigades—the military wing of Hamas—successfully destroyed an Israeli Merkava IV tank and a military bulldozer.
In a joint statement, the brigades said they detonated a Thaqeb explosive device targeting the Merkava IV tank, resulting in a complete fire engulfing the vehicle and the destruction of its command cabin.
They further stated that they targeted and destroyed a D9 military bulldozer using a barrel-type IED triggered by a mechanical pressure plate while it was engaged in land-leveling operations.
The statement also noted that fighters from both factions observed enemy aircraft landing in the area to evacuate the dead and wounded following the two attacks.
These operations are part of the ongoing response by Palestinian resistance factions to what they describe as an Israeli genocide in Gaza, carried out with U.S. backing since October 7, 2023. The offensive includes mass killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, in defiance of international appeals and rulings by the International Court of Justice demanding a halt.
