Algiers – SABA:

Dr. Abdesslam Filali has released a new book titled "From Rome to Islam… On the Civilizational Shift in North Africa," published by Dar Al-Nahda for Publishing, Translation, and Distribution in Algeria.

This work represents a new installment in a research series addressing interconnected historical themes, building upon the author’s previous volume, "Algeria During the Roman Era… The Genius of Place and Manifestations of Power," issued by Dar Al-Aqqad for Publishing and Distribution in 2002, according to the Omani News Agency.

The author structured this publication around a methodological framework divided into three chapters:

1. "From Rome to Byzantium: Landmarks and Changes"
- Explores the preconditions of North Africa’s civilizational transformation.
- Examines shifts under Vandal and Byzantine rule.
- Analyzes the rise of Moorish tribes and the establishment of kingdoms (5th–7th centuries).
- Discusses climate-induced catastrophes as recorded by contemporary historians.

2. "The Islamic Conquest: Elements of Civilizational Transition and Interaction"
- Critiques historical sources and their conflicting narratives on the Islamic conquest.
- Deconstructs so-called "revolts," particularly those tied to Kharijite ideology.

3. "Manifestations of Change: Elements of Response"
- Highlights post-Islamization cultural shifts, including new naming conventions and genealogical records.
- Traces the spread of Arabic and socio-ethnic transformations.
- Presents a theoretical framework for Christianity’s decline in the region.
