Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Friday that any new round of nuclear negotiations would only be possible if the other side demonstrates genuine readiness to reach a fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial nuclear agreement.
In a post on his X platform account, Araghchi explained, "Last night, I held a joint video conference with the foreign ministers of the three European countries (Britain, France, and Germany) and the European Union’s foreign policy chief, during which I clearly conveyed key and important points."
He added, "If the three European countries and the EU wish to play a constructive role, they must act responsibly and abandon their outdated policy of threats and pressure, including the threat to trigger the 'snapback' mechanism, which lacks any legal or moral basis."
Araghchi emphasized that it was the United States, not Iran, that withdrew from the 2015 agreement reached after two years of negotiations involving the EU. He also noted that Washington left the negotiating table last June, opting for military action instead of dialogue—not Iran.
