Rabat – SABA:
Thousands of Moroccans demonstrated across several cities after Friday prayers in solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, condemning the ongoing genocide by the Israeli occupation and calling for Islamic unity to liberate Palestine and confront regional challenges.
These weekly pro-Palestine protests have become a regular occurrence in Morocco every Friday.
This week’s demonstrations were held in cities including Al Hoceima, Tetouan, and Fez (north), Casablanca and El Jadida (west), and Taza and Oujda (east). They were organized by the Moroccan Commission for Supporting the Ummah’s Causes (a non-governmental group), marking the 85th consecutive week of rallies under the slogan “The wounds of our nation are the drivers of our unity.”
According to Anadolu Agency, protesters denounced the Israeli occupation’s continued targeting of civilians and urged immediate international support for Palestine.
Demonstrators chanted slogans supporting Palestinian resistance and condemning U.S. support for Israel. Among the chants:
- “March on, O resistance, toward victory and liberation”
- “Long live Palestine, long live Jerusalem”
- “Palestine is not for sale”
Since October 7, 2023, with American and European backing, the Israeli military has waged a genocidal war in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of 58,667 Palestinian civilians, mostly children and women, and injuring 139,974 others—figures as of Thursday and still incomplete, as thousands remain under rubble and unreachable by rescue teams.
