Palestinian journalist Tamer al-Za'anin was killed and his colleague, journalist Ibrahim Abu Amsha, was wounded by Israeli enemy forces during a kidnapping operation carried out by an Israeli special forces unit against Dr. Marwan al-Hamas, director of Abu Yousef al-Najjar Hospital and responsible for field hospitals in the Gaza Strip. The kidnapping occurred near the Red Cross field hospital in the al-Mawasi area of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.
According to Quds Press, eyewitnesses confirmed that armed men in a four-wheel-drive vehicle opened fire on a group of citizens sitting in a café opposite the hospital, killing al-Za'anin and wounding Abu Amsha, this coincided with the kidnapping of al-Hamas and his being taken to an unknown location.
