Sana'a - Saba:
The General Authority for Science, Research, and Technology and Innovation has successfully designed and manufactured a prototype of an advanced artificial knee, utilizing reverse engineering based on a German model.
Dr. Abdulaziz al-Houri, Vice President of the Authority, announced that the prototype has been delivered to the Ministry of Health's Limbs Center for testing and feedback.
This initiative aims for mass production to significantly reduce costs—currently over $700 per unit—and achieve self-sufficiency in this crucial humanitarian field.
Al-Houri added that the Authority plans to expand production to include plates for upper and lower artificial limbs, which are currently very expensive to import.
