Tunisians continue sit-in outside US embassy in support of Gaza
[03/ August/2025]

Tunisia - Saba:

For the eighth day, Tunisian activists continue their sit-in in front of the US embassy in the capital, Tunis, to denounce Washington's support for the Israeli genocide in Gaza and to demand an end to the war, starvation, and blockade imposed on the Strip.

The sit-in, dubbed the "Siege of the US Embassy," began last Saturday, following a call by the Joint Action Coordination for Palestine and the Tunisian Network to Confront the Normalization System.

Dozens of Tunisians held a protest in front of the embassy building on Saturday evening, called by the Coordination and Network to denounce US support for the genocide and to support the sit-in on its eighth day.

The sit-in participants renewed their demands to lift the siege on Gaza, open the crossings, and stop the starvation and genocide. They chanted, "Lifting the siege and opening the crossings is a duty," "Stopping the genocide is a duty," and "Stopping the starvation and killing is a duty." They called on their country's authorities to "close the US embassy and expel its ambassador (Bill Bazzi)." In a speech delivered during the sit-in on Saturday evening, Salah al-Masri, spokesman for the Tunisian Network to Confront the Normalization System, said, "In this sit-in, we are responding to the call of the Palestinian resistance, which has come together and united in confronting the Zionist aggression. Each time, it reiterates its call to all Arabs, Muslims, and free people around the world."

Al-Masri emphasized that "this call is clear: to besiege the embassies of the enemy and its primary partner, the United States of America." He continued: "We tell every Tunisian man and woman that your participation in the sit-in in front of the US embassy has many goals: to support that infant and young Palestinian child who is dying of hunger, thirst, and disease due to the bombing of all hospitals, and to support every martyr who has ascended while confronting American imperialism."

Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist enemy forces have been committing a starvation crime against the Palestinians of Gaza. They intensified their measures on March 2, closing all crossings to humanitarian, relief, and medical aid, causing famine to spread and reach catastrophic levels.
