DOHA April 26. 2024 (Saba) - The real problem in negotiations to stop aggression on Gaza is that the Zionist enemy refuses ceasefire and withdrawal from the Strip, deputy chief of Hamas in Gaza said.

Hamas Movement and Palestinian resistance are engaged in serious talks in order to reach ceasefire and prisoner swap deal, Khalil al-Hiya added in remarks to Al-Jazeera.

"We don't want to retain prisoners, and we're willing to release them as part of serious negotiations and agreement," he said, blaming lack of progress in talks to "the Israeli obduracy."

Asked about the US recent stance, Hamas official said the "American remarks came when we have yet to receive any replay from Israel or mediators to our position."

However, he added, "we welcome American statements on potentiality to reach a prisoner swap and ceasefire deal."
