SANA'A, Jan. 27 (Saba) - The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Finance, Dr. Rashid Abu Luhom, on Wednesday announced the launch of the barcode system for customs inspection.
"Yemen is one of the first Arab countries to work with this system, which comes with a self-effort implemented by the Customs Authority's cadres," Dr. Abu Luhom said, during a ceremony organized in Sana'a by the customs authority on the International Customs Day.
The system was piloted over a period of four months and it would be a comprehensive system of value and inspection, through which the customs declaration would be automatically issued in record time, he added.
Dr. Abu Luhom emphasized that the implementation of the system would have positive results in terms of revenues, correct information, and control customs performance in general.
He praised the efforts of the Customs Authority's leadership and cadres, who work under siege conditions and within the framework of the available capabilities.
