SEOUL May 28. 2024 (Saba) - North Korea today launched a missile towards areas of the southern Yellow Sea.
According to South Korea's Yonhap news agency, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that the rocket was launched from the area where the Sohae Space Launch Center is located.
The South Korean side has not yet determined the type of missile detected.
This comes hours after Japan's Maritime Security Agency announced on Monday that Pyongyang had warned Tokyo of plans to launch a satellite from May 27 to June 4.
In its notification, North Korea had identified three likely areas where missile debris would fall as a safety precaution.
North Korea launched into space in November 2023 its first reconnaissance satellite, and plans to launch a second satellite soon.
