RABAT July 13. 2024 (Saba) - A visit by a delegation of Moroccan youth to the occupied territories in solidarity with the Zionist enemy has sparked controversy in the Kingdom, amid the aggression on the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Ma'an News Agency reported that the "Morocco Coexistence" Association, in cooperation with the Tel Aviv-based "Partnership" Foundation, with funding from the German government, organized a visit for 24 Moroccan youth to Israel early last week with the aim of strengthening relations.
According to the American "Al-Hurra" website, the Moroccan delegation held meetings with Israeli officials, most notably Amir Ohana, Speaker of the Knesset, and Meir Ben Shabbat, former Israeli National Security Advisor.
Following the publication of photos of the Moroccan delegation's visit to Israel on social media, harsh criticism of the delegation members poured in, especially in light of the visit coinciding with the war waged by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.
The visit is scheduled to end today, Saturday, and according to what was announced, aims to strengthen relations and solidarity with Israel after the Hamas attack on October 7 - the Al-Aqsa Flood - and the delegation considered it a visit to a country friendly to Morocco and does not represent the official Moroccan position "Rabat", and it was attacked by opponents of normalization who see it as a betrayal of the "popular consensus" in Morocco on solidarity with the Palestinians.
