Hamas denounces HR report as unprofessional, biased

GAZA July 17. 2024 (Saba) - The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has called on Human Rights Watch to retract its latest report, describing it as unprofessional, filled with lies, and blatantly biased in favor of the occupation.

In a press statement on Wednesday, Hamas criticized Human Rights Watch for its failure to defend human rights impartially. The movement claimed that the report echoes the narratives of the Zionist military and its media to justify their actions against the Palestinian people.

Hamas asserted that the report adopts the entire Zionist narrative, lacking scientific research and a neutral legal stance, making it resemble a Zionist propaganda document. The organization failed to address the suffering, destruction, and death in Gaza, instead perpetuating racial discrimination.

The movement pointed out that the report ignored the killing, destruction, and humanitarian crises in Gaza, where over 120,000 people have been killed or injured over 285 days. It also overlooked the destruction of critical infrastructure, such as hospitals and schools, while the occupation continues its crimes with Western support.

Hamas emphasized the right of the Palestinian people to resist occupation by any means, in accordance with divine laws and international agreements. It noted that Human Rights Watch neglected to acknowledge the long history of violence, torture, and sieges against Palestinians before October 7.

The report, according to Hamas, deliberately ignored the crimes committed by the occupation forces on October 7 against Palestinians and even against Zionist civilians caught in the conflict. Furthermore, it criticized the report for demanding the immediate release of Zionist prisoners while neglecting the plight of thousands of Palestinian prisoners.

Hamas condemned the report's false accusations, including claims of rape and sexual violence, without providing reliable evidence. It reaffirmed its commitment to Islamic values and international humanitarian law and expressed readiness to address any wrongdoing within its ranks after the conflict.

The movement held Human Rights Watch fully responsible for the report, claiming it justifies the continuation of occupation crimes and harms both the reputation of the organization and the Palestinian resistance.
