BEIJNING July 19. 2024 (Saba) - China expressed on Friday its dissatisfaction and strong opposition to the joint naval exercises recently conducted by Japan and Taiwan.
According to reports, two Taiwanese and Japanese inspection ships conducted a joint exercise yesterday, Thursday, at the southern tip of the Boso Peninsula and in the waters near Izu Island.
The spokesman stressed that China urges the Japanese side to adhere to the one-China principle and the spirit stipulated in the four political documents between China and Japan, refrain from creating disturbances to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and refrain from harming Sino-Japanese relations.
Regarding the upcoming visits of Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu to Japan and South Korea, the spokesman said that China hopes to increase communication, enhance cooperation, and advance the sound and steady development of its relations with Japan and South Korea through bilateral dialogue.
