ATHENS August 12. 2024 (Saba) - Hundreds of people have been evacuated from their homes by Greek authorities due to several forest fires in areas near the capital Athens, and a state of alert has been declared in large parts of Greece.
Greek media reported last night that Greek authorities ordered residents of the historic city of Marathon, 40 kilometers northeast of Athens, to evacuate their homes and head to the coastal city of Nea Makri.
