SANA'A August 18. 2024 (Saba) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Jamal Ahmed Amer met on Sunday with the United Nations Resident Coordinator - Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Julien Harneis.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation with the United Nations and international and regional organizations related to humanitarian and development assistance to people with needs and those affected by the economic blockade imposed on Yemen.
In the meeting, the Foreign Minister affirmed the direction of the Government of Change and Construction to enhance cooperation with the United Nations and related organizations following the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen and international charters and treaties.
He stressed the importance of the United Nations and humanitarian aid not becoming an instrument of political pressure in favor of colonial powers.
For his part, the United Nations Resident Coordinator pointed out some problems. He stressed the importance of cooperation to solve possible obstacles through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the government's observations on the work of international organizations and organizations that enjoy immunity per treaties in this regard and in a way that does not contradict the Yemeni constitution.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to develop rules for the work of organizations by the declared tasks that define their role and areas of work, in a way that contributes to supporting their efforts and the success of their role in their humanitarian and development contributions.
