Caracas says terrorism, street violence thwarted by People's democratic choice

CARACAS August 24. 2024 (Saba) - Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto has announced the failure of efforts to incite terrorism and violence in the streets, along with the collapse of the supposed transitional process and the strategy of rebellion, as the democratic convictions of the Venezuelan people prevailed.

In a statement last night, Pinto asserted that "the United States of America reveals its neo-colonial ambitions by attacking the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people, attempting to re-enact the embarrassing Juan Guaido incident through a new figure (referring to Edmundo Gonzalez), while continuing its efforts to seize the resources of the Venezuelan people."

Pinto criticized the U.S. for relying on "lies propagated by their intelligence agencies for over 30 years to orchestrate regime changes and install puppet leaders who serve their interests."

He emphasized that the Venezuelan people once again elected President Nicolas Maduro through a free and democratic vote, reiterating that Venezuela remains an independent state with robust institutions, earning the respect and appreciation of many countries.

Two days ago, the Supreme Court of Justice in Venezuela confirmed the results of the presidential elections held on July 28, which led to the re-election of President Nicolas Maduro for the term 2025-2031.

The court's ratification followed an investigation into the electoral appeal, which had been described as "controversial."

Supreme Court President Cariclia Rodriguez announced that "all electoral materials submitted by the National Electoral Council and political parties will be preserved in the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice."

Venezuela experienced acts of violence and vandalism in the days following Maduro's re-election, with opposition supporters pushing for his resignation.

These protests, heavily promoted on social media, led Maduro to declare that "the coup attempt by terrorists following the elections is a social media-driven coup aimed at sowing division and hatred, orchestrated by criminal and mercenary gangs."
