Humanitarian organizations call on world leaders to end catastrophe in Gaza Strip

NEW YORK - SABA : The Joint Standing Committee of a number of humanitarian organizations led by the United Nations called on world leaders in New York for the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly to end the "terrible humanitarian catastrophe and suffering in Gaza."

This came in a statement issued by the committee today, Tuesday, regarding the increasing tension in the Middle East, as well as in Gaza Strip, which is undergoing a devastating Zionist aggression.

The committee said: "We call for an immediate, sustainable and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza," emphasizing the need to grant humanitarian workers "safe and unhindered access to those in need."

"Health care services in Gaza have been destroyed, and more than 500 attacks on health care services have been recorded."

It noted that the Zionist entity "continues to use disproportionate and unnecessary force in the occupied West Bank," and that increased "settler violence," home demolitions and forced displacement are causing deaths and injuries.
