Sana'a - Saba:
What is happening is that a war criminal and international fugitive like Netanyahu is nominating the perpetrator of the genocide in Gaza, Donald Trump, for the Nobel Peace Prize, this is not a boast; rather, it is a reality, a statement of fact. It is a reality through which we can understand the underlying concepts that underpin those who make war decisions in our world.
The nomination of Benjamin Netanyahu, wanted by the International Criminal Court, of US President Donald Trump, the official sponsor of the genocide in Gaza, for the Nobel Peace Prize has sparked widespread controversy and heated debate, this has led to several questions examining the realism of this nomination, especially since the nomination by this criminal came after the official deadline for submitting nominations had passed, Furthermore, the nomination was not limited to Netanyahu, as it was preceded by Pakistan.
While Netanyahu continues to evade and stall in Tel Aviv regarding the ceasefire negotiations taking place in Doha, his businessman comrade Trump continues to make optimistic statements in Washington about the imminent conclusion of an agreement in Gaza within days, a week, or two, prolonging the negotiations and allowing the Zionist gang to continue committing massacres and genocide in the besieged Gaza Strip. In doing so, he cements the United States' reputation as a sponsor of the genocide in Gaza.
On the ground in the Gaza Strip, Israeli enemy forces continue to commit genocide, committing murder, starvation, destruction, and displacement on the one hand, and penetrating and devouring areas of the Strip on the other. Meanwhile, a Zionist colonial plan is being formulated to establish the so-called "Gaza Humanitarian City," a symbol of a major crime being planned by the Israeli entity in full view of the world.
The Zionist plan is being implemented through an incursion into the Gaza Strip and an attempt to seize additional territory in conjunction with Netanyahu's visit to the United States, as well as the launch of a new round of indirect negotiations in Qatar with Hamas, the plan aims to establish a large city between the Philadelphi and Morag axes in the southern Gaza Strip.
The new city, dubbed a "humanitarian city" by the Israeli government, will include basic infrastructure, including tents and permanent buildings, it will be designated to accommodate the largest possible number of Gaza residents and will serve as a hub for delivering humanitarian aid that will later enter the Strip, according to the Zionist plan.
This project reflects the extent of the genocide in Gaza, through the strangulation of the Strip's population and the perpetration of all forms of crimes against them, with the goal of forcing them to flee as the true objective of this criminal project.
Given this criminal reality, overseen and funded by the United States, Trump's propensity for winning the Nobel Peace Prize is present, he has often complained that his efforts to resolve the conflicts between India and Pakistan, as well as between Serbia and Kosovo, have been ignored.
Trump also claims credit for "keeping peace" between Egypt and Ethiopia, as well as for sponsoring the Abraham Accords aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and several Arab countries.
Trump campaigned as a "peacemaker," using his negotiating skills to end wars, particularly in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip. However, these two conflicts remain raging despite more than five months since his return to the White House. Furthermore, his claims do not qualify him for the prize; he is a warmaker and a perpetrator of aggression against Iran, and before that, he financed and ensured the continuation of the genocide in Gaza.
Analysts also believe that Trump's path to the prize remains fraught with challenges due to ongoing regional conflicts and his controversial statements on sensitive issues such as Iran and the war in Ukraine, as well as, most recently, his stance on the genocide in Gaza and the displacement of the population.
Between supporters and opponents of Trump's nomination, the debate has sparked a broad discussion about the Nobel Prize criteria and the role of politics in awarding international prizes, according to observers.
The Nobel Peace Prize is the highest award given to an individual or organization deemed to have made the greatest contribution to "strengthening the bonds of brotherhood among nations."
If Trump wins, he will become the fifth American president to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, following Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter, and Barack Obama. However, his victory would be a true reflection of an international reality that is not aligned with the path of justice that seeks peace for the world.
Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, in his famous will, stipulated that the prize be awarded to the person who "shall have done the most or the best to promote fraternity between nations, the abolition of standing armies, or the establishment of peace-promoting organizations or congresses." All living persons or active institutions are eligible.
The chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, Jørgen Watten-Frednes, states in a foreword on the Nobel website: "Virtually anyone can be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, the history of the prize clearly shows that it is awarded to persons from all walks of life and from all parts of the world."
Although the winners are announced in October of each year, the nomination period closes at the end of January, meaning that Netanyahu's letter arrived late and will not be considered among this year's nominations.
According to a France 24 report, thousands of people around the world can nominate candidates for the prize, including members of governments and parliaments, current heads of state, university professors in history, social sciences, law, and philosophy, and previous Nobel Peace Prize winners. However, not just anyone can nominate themselves, the lists of nominations remain confidential for fifty years.
Trump's aspiration to win the prize and the presence of those who nominated him not only confirm the extent of his flattery, but also reflect the absurdity of international resolutions that support issues related to noble human values, such as the pursuit of peace and the award of the Nobel Peace Prize.
