Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Abdulwahid Abu Ras, who also chairs the National Committee for Refugee Affairs met on Sunday with Resident Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Yemen Marin Din Kaidom Shay to discuss aspects of cooperation between the ministry and the UNHCR.
During the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the need to increase humanitarian interventions related to the refugee situation, which is becoming more challenging due to the rising number of asylum seekers daily. He stressed the importance of achieving an effective impact in this area.
He explained that the ministry is committed to providing the necessary facilities to the UNHCR office to enable it to implement activities and projects in accordance with the regulations governing the work of international organizations operating in Yemen, as approved by the Council of Ministers.
In turn, the UNHCR Resident Representative expressed appreciation for the constructive engagement he has recently observed from the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, which contributes to achieving common goals.
He affirmed his commitment to making every effort to meet national demands in this regard until satisfactory results are achieved.
