London - Saba: A series of coordinated hacking attacks targeted vital infrastructure and government websites in Cyprus, announced by several hacking groups in solidarity with Palestine.
Cypriot cyber officials reported on Tuesday that the attacks caused temporary disruption to banks, airports and government websites.
The first warnings about a possible cyber operation against Cyprus appeared last week, following statements on Telegram and dark web forums from groups such as "Lulzsic Black", "Moroccan Soldiers", "Black Masked Army" and "Anonymous Syria", which announced their intention to hack Cypriot agencies to punish the country for its support for "Israel".
Among the services affected are the main portal of the Cypriot government on the Internet, the country's electricity and communications authorities, its main bank, an oil company, and the operator of two local airports.
