Hodeida - Saba:
In a barbaric escalation that reflects the American aggressive approach against Yemen, American enemy warplanes recently targeted water facilities in al-Mansouriyah district of Hodeida province, as part of a systematic policy to destroy civilian infrastructure and undermine the ability of Yemenis to meet their basic needs.
The bombing resulted in the deaths of four employees of the Corporation and severe damage to the Water Corporation's facilities. The Corporation's building, a large portion of the water supply project, and the main reservoir, which supplies thousands of citizens in the district and surrounding areas, were destroyed.
The airstrikes also caused extensive damage to pipelines, shut down pumping and generation stations, and halted water services for this project, which serves thousands of families. This threatens a catastrophe in light of the increasing water needs.
This deliberate targeting constitutes a full-fledged war crime, as it contravenes international laws that prohibit the targeting of civilian facilities, especially those that provide essential services to the population. According to the Geneva Conventions, the destruction of civilian infrastructure exposes perpetrators to legal accountability, as it threatens the lives of innocent people and impedes their access to water, a fundamental human right.
This crime threatens to have catastrophic humanitarian, health, and environmental consequences. The disruption of water supplies leads to the spread of disease and increased rates of malnutrition, in addition to increasing the suffering of citizens who already face difficult living conditions as a result of the ongoing blockade and aggression.
The attack is not limited to the destruction of service facilities; it reflects a criminal strategy of the American enemy, aimed at exhausting and subjugating the population by destroying their basic necessities of life. This bombing has no military objectives; rather, it is an act of revenge directed against civilians, in an attempt to break their resilience and force them to live in harsh conditions that worsen by the day.
This escalation is part of a series of war crimes committed by the US aggression against the Yemeni people. The Ministry of Health and Environment announced the death toll from the US aggression on Yemen, from March 15 of this year to April 1, which has reached 200 civilian deaths and injuries, including 61 martyrs.
The Ministry explained that the total number of martyrs since the beginning of the Yemeni support operation for Gaza until April 1 has reached 250, while the number of wounded has reached 714 civilians, reflecting the extent of the brutal crimes targeting innocent people and infrastructure in Yemen.
This American bankruptcy, which lacks a real target bank, reveals the extent of its depravity and indiscriminate targeting in a desperate attempt to dissuade Yemen from its supportive stance towards Gaza, in light of the Arab abandonment, subservience, and normalization practiced by some client regimes.
Despite the horrific nature of these crimes, the international community remains silent, while the United States continues to bomb civilian facilities without any deterrent. This reflects the double standards adopted by major powers in their handling of humanitarian issues and exposes their criminal schemes in the region.
Targeting al-Mansouriyah Water Corporation represents a flagrant violation of the rights of thousands of citizens. However, the Yemeni people have proven over the past years that such crimes will not weaken their resolve, but rather strengthen their resilience and determination to confront challenges until victory is achieved.
