The Yemeni Consumer Protection Association is preparing to launch a national initiative to support Yemeni products under the slogan "My Identity is Yemeni, My Product is National." This initiative will be carried out in partnership with the General Federation of Yemeni Chambers of Commerce and Industry and in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Investment.
The president of the association, Fadl Mansour, explained that the initiative's goal is to create a unified national identity to promote and support Yemeni products domestically and internationally. It seeks to develop a clear vision for endorsing Yemeni products to become consumers' preferred and first choice. The initiative also aims to unify national efforts, clarify roles and responsibilities, enhance the capabilities and quality of Yemeni products, and stimulate investment within the production and industrial sectors. This includes supporting entrepreneurs and emerging national companies.
Mansour highlighted that the initiative will work towards fostering national awareness about Yemeni products, encouraging their preference, and expanding their market share domestically. It also aims to serve as a platform for bringing together business leaders, economists, industrial experts, and decision-makers to discuss the challenges and needs of Yemeni production and industry. The goal is to facilitate the development and growth of these sectors, ultimately providing consumers with high-quality, competitive local products as an alternative to imported goods, ensuring their sustainability and growth.
Furthermore, the association president outlined the strategic dimensions of the initiative, which include localizing various production and industrial sectors, strengthening the Yemeni economic and industrial foundations to curb foreign currency outflow, reducing the balance of payments deficit, narrowing the import gap, lowering unemployment rates, creating job opportunities for young people, and exploring and utilizing investment opportunities. Additionally, the initiative aims to diversify production and income sources and reduce dependency on raw material exports.
The initiative will feature several programs, activities, and consultative meetings. Among them are the Yemeni Product Support Forum, a public awareness campaign, and an exhibition of Yemeni products and industries. The targeted sectors include food and pharmaceutical industries, agricultural products, small and micro industries, family-run businesses, mining, construction materials, and various industries such as furniture, foam, textiles, leather, plastics, paper, chemicals, detergents, cosmetics, and packaging materials.
