The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that units of the "Center" group took control of the town of Volchenka in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine.
The Russian defense said in a statement that units of the forces of the "Center" group took control of the village of Volchenka in the Donetsk region and targeted aviation and artillery weapons, as well as attack drones, Ukrainian military airfields, and sites for storing and launching drones, as well as energy facilities.
"Ukrainian military equipment was targeted and destroyed in several regions, and air defense systems shot down three French-made Hummer guided bombs, a missile launched from a US-made Hemars launcher, and 36 drones," it said.
The Russian "West" group destroyed the equipment of six Ukrainian brigades, and four counterattacks by attack groups of the 23rd Mechanized Brigade, the 169th Training Center of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the 113th Regional Defense Brigade were repelled, the ministry said.
In recent weeks, Russia has intensified its strikes on Ukrainian cities, especially Kyiv.
