Brussels - Saba:
Belgium's Deputy Prime Minister, Petra de Sutter, on Thursday, called on the European Union to comply with the arrest warrants issued against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for crimes against humanity and war crimes.
In a social media post, de Sutter said: "Europe must comply (with the resolution), impose economic sanctions, suspend the association agreement with Israel, and support the arrest warrants."
War crimes and crimes against humanity could not go unpunished.
Today, Pre-Trial Chamber I of the International Criminal Court unanimously issued two decisions rejecting appeals filed by the Israeli occupying power under Articles 18 and 19 of the Rome Statute, and issued arrest warrants for both Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Galant, on charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least 8 October 2023 until 20 May 2024, the day on which the intention was submitted.
