The Yemeni Authority for Specifications, Metrology and Quality Control destroyed a quantity of goods and commodities that violated the approved specifications in Sana'a, Hodeidah and Al-Raheda.
The Authority explained in a statement issued by it that it destroyed in the General Diwan, 800 cartons of strawberry-flavored artificial syrup that violated the specifications in terms of a change in the natural properties of the product.
The statement indicated that in Hodeidah, more than 1,200 cartons of frozen chicken without entrails were destroyed that violated the specifications in terms of the presence of blood, moisture and a change in the sensory properties of the product. In addition, 122 cartons of liquid detergents were destroyed that violated the specifications in terms of the presence of breakage in the packages, which led to the leakage of the product.
It stated that in Hodeidah, a manual printer was also destroyed that prints the production and expiration dates of products, as well as battery-powered phone chargers that were in violation of the six-pointed star design, and a quantity of used car spare parts were destroyed in violation of Resolution No. 481 of 2009 regarding the regulation of the import of used spare parts.
The report stated that 147 cartons of various food items were destroyed at the Al-Raheda Control Center due to the products being exposed to mechanical damage that led to the packaging being torn and shattered due to the overturning of the means of transportation.
Abu Oud dried sweets and children's pacifiers were also destroyed due to the failure to record the expiration date and the colorants used, and children's pacifiers are products prohibited from being imported.
It explained that the seizure and destruction process was carried out in cooperation with customs, security services and relevant authorities in accordance with legal procedures and the tasks assigned to the Authority to prevent the entry of any products that do not meet the specifications in order to preserve the health and safety of citizens.
The statement called on everyone to cooperate with the Authority to protect the country and citizens from counterfeit, smuggled and unusable goods, stressing that the Authority will not tolerate the entry of products that do not conform to the approved standard specifications.
