The Russian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the Zionist aggression on the city of Palmyra in the Homs countryside, which led to the death and injury of dozens of people, stressing that it is a blatant violation of Syrian sovereignty and the basic rules of international law.
"We strongly condemn the violent attack carried out by "Israel" on Syrian territory, and this attack, as well as all that preceded it, constitutes a blatant violation of the sovereignty of this country and the basic rules of international law," ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a press statement on Friday.
Zakharova continued: "Once again we strongly urge to listen to the voice of reason and not to go beyond the limits of civilized behavior based on the system of human values that emerged with the advent of the 21st century, and we must remember that the escalation of the conflict makes it difficult to realize the prospects for lasting peace in the Middle East."
