Ukraine and western countries need to engage in dialogue with Russia, German former chancellor has said.
"I think that at a certain point - and officials today have to appoint this moment - we'll need to talk. There won't be a mere military solution," Angela Merkel added.
The German former leader expressed hope that the World would not head for a wider war.
