Sana'a-Saba:
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources condemned the provocations and violations against fishermen in the territorial waters of the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden, represented by the deployment of Emirati forces and their gunboats and militias off the coast of Hadramawt Governorate in the Shahir area.
In a statement, the ministry affirmed its firm position in rejecting all measures aimed at restricting the freedom of fishermen to practice their profession within Yemeni territorial waters.
The statement considered such acts and actions a clear violation of international principles related to freedom of navigation and the rights of fishermen to use marine resources legally and safely, in line with international laws and conventions that protect the rights of people to exploit their natural resources.
It called on the international community and organizations concerned with human rights and freedom of maritime navigation to shoulder their responsibilities in pressing to stop these violations and to ensure the freedom of fishermen to practice their work without fear of threats or attacks.
The Ministry also confirmed its constant follow-up to these events. Demand immediate action to lift illegal restrictions on territorial waters in the Arabian Sea and provide adequate protection for Yemeni fishermen in the Red and Arabian Seas.
