Washington - Saba:
Nine Americans of Palestinian origin filed a lawsuit against the Washington government, accusing it of failing to rescue their family members who were trapped in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Zionist aggression for more than a year.
The lawsuit, filed yesterday, Thursday, accuses the State Department of discriminating against Americans of Palestinian origin by abandoning them in a war zone and not making the same effort it makes to evacuate and protect Americans of other origins in similar situations.
This was the second case against the US government this week after Palestinian families filed a lawsuit against the US State Department on Tuesday due to Washington's support for the occupation army.
The lawsuit was announced by the Council on American-Islamic Relations and attorney Mariah Carey yesterday, Thursday.
The lawsuit alleges that the plaintiffs’ right to equal protection under the U.S. Constitution was violated by “denying them the normal and typical evacuation efforts of the federal government for non-Palestinian Americans.” The lawsuit cites similar instances of the U.S. government evacuating its citizens from other conflict zones such as Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Sudan, and names President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin as defendants.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation has been waging a brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands dead, wounded, and missing, most of them children and women.
