The Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control destroyed goods that violated approved standards in Hodeidah, Nihm and Afar.
The Authority explained in a statement issued by it that it destroyed in Hodeidah a quantity of chocolate-filled cake that violated standard specifications in terms of the near expiration of the expiration period, as well as destroying manual date printers that violated the circulars issued by the Authority to prevent their import as they are used to falsify the printing of production and expiration dates for products.
The statement pointed out that in the Nahm Center, a canned fruit cocktail was destroyed that did not meet the standard specifications in terms of the presence of blackening inside the product packages, in addition to destroying a quantity of pasta in the Afar Control Center, as the product did not meet the specifications in terms of the presence of live insects, and therefore it is considered unfit for human consumption.
It was stated that the seizure and destruction process was carried out in cooperation with the relevant authorities in accordance with the legal procedures and tasks assigned to the Authority to prevent the entry of any products that do not meet the specifications in order to preserve the health and safety of citizens, protect the environment, and combat the phenomenon of commercial fraud.
The statement stressed that the Authority cannot tolerate or exceed the entry of products that do not meet the approved standard specifications as they harm the lives of citizens and will always work, according to its legal authorization, to provide health protection for the consumer by applying the standard specifications for all locally manufactured or imported materials and goods.
The Authority called on everyone to cooperate with it in a way that contributes to achieving protection for the homeland and citizens from counterfeit, smuggled and unfit for use goods.
