Sana'a - Saba:
A training course for rural women on the importance of composite flour and changing the consumer's dietary pattern began in Hamdan District in Sana'a Governorate, organized by the General Corporation for Grain Development and Production in coordination with the local authority and the Northern Sector Agricultural Cooperative Development Association.
The course, which will last for five days, aims to provide 300 trainees in the isolation associations in the northern sector with experiences on how to use composite flour from corn, wheat and barley, instead of white flour in the manufacture of bread and sweets.
At the opening of the course, the Director of Development at the Corporation, Muhammad Hamid, explained that the composite flour project implemented by the Corporation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Investment and relevant authorities, is a development project with many benefits, and will work to develop local production.
He stressed that this product will be relied upon instead of imported products in homes, ovens, bakeries and confectionery factories, noting that work will be done to find different marketing methods for grain crops and encourage farmers to expand their cultivation and free themselves from economic dependence on the outside.
He explained that at the end of the course, a bazaar will be held for the products provided by the trainees and its financial return will support the missile force and the air force.
While the director of Hamdan Directorate, Fahd Attia, indicated that the course comes in implementation of the directives of the leader of the revolution to advance the agricultural sector and enhance its role in the areas of food security, change the culture of society and move towards consuming local products from grain crops, reaching self-sufficiency.
He praised the efforts of the General Corporation for Grain Development in developing the capabilities of women in the governorate through the use of local products from various grain crops.
In turn, the head of the Northern Sector Association in the governorate, Fayez Saree, and the executive director of the association, Bakr Mujahiz, expressed hope that the course will meet the aspirations in activating and strengthening the local agricultural and industrial production sector, which will positively reflect on the lives of citizens.
They pointed out the healthy and nutritional impact of using locally produced grains, to avoid diseases resulting from malnutrition from white flour imported from abroad.
