Geneva - Saba:
Director of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday that "more than 12,000 people in Gaza still need medical evacuations."
Ghebreyesus added in a statement "We continue to urge Israel to increase the rate of approvals for medical evacuations."
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) had said earlier "Gaza hospitals that are being subjected to continuous Israeli bombardment have become (death traps)."
This came in a post on "X" platform on Wednesday, regarding the genocide committed by the Zionist enemy army in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
UNRWA stated that "families are disintegrating and children are dying of cold in Gaza due to the aggression of the Zionist occupation."
The agency pointed out that "hunger is claiming the lives of people in the Strip, as the food crisis has worsened due to the restrictions imposed by the occupation forces on the entry of humanitarian aid."
According to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, "only 14 hospitals out of 36 in Gaza are providing their services partially."
These hospitals suffer from a shortage of medicines and medical supplies due to the inability to deliver sufficient aid to them.
The Zionist enemy army, supported by the United States and Europe, has continued its aggression on the Gaza Strip for 460 consecutive days, as its aircraft bomb the vicinity of hospitals, buildings, towers and homes of Palestinian civilians and destroy them over the heads of their residents, and prevent the entry of water, food, medicine and fuel.
The aggression has left more than 155,200 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
