Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer met today with the United Nations Resident Coordinator - Humanitarian Coordinator in Sana'a Julien Harneis.
During the meeting, issues related to several international governmental and non-governmental organizations were discussed, and the importance of all organizations' commitment to the five rules governing the relationship with the government was emphasized, which confirmed that the official and only channel of communication is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, by internationally recognized diplomatic norms, and in a way that enhances joint cooperation between the government and international organizations.
In the meeting, Minister Amer stressed the importance of providing urgent support to Al-Hodeidah Governorate, especially Al-Thawra General Hospital, as a result of the Israeli and American military aggression it was subjected to.
He stressed the need for all international governmental and non-governmental organizations to commit to the principle of rationalizing operating expenses and relying on Yemeni national cadres during the implementation of 2025 projects, within the framework of Yemeniizing jobs that can be provided by qualified Yemeni cadres.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also stressed the importance of projects implemented by international organizations taking into account the humanitarian and developmental aspects, as there is no separation between them, to benefit the Yemeni citizen in any governorate of the Republic, without exception, according to the general directives of the leadership.
He explained that the government supports a community evaluation of projects implemented by international governmental and non-governmental organizations, as it will be a more fair and objective evaluation.
In turn, Harneis explained that the United Nations and international governmental and non-governmental organizations are committed to working through the official communication channel represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
He stressed that the United Nations is working to reduce operating expenses and support local employment for several jobs in which a Yemeni employee can replace an international employee.
The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for the International Cooperation Sector, Ambassador Ismail Al-Mutawakel.
