The Commander of the Iranian Army's Air Force, Brigadier General Seyyed Qasem Khamoshi, announced that the first successful night airdrop operation was carried out by special forces units with the help of the Air Force's positional night vision equipment.
Mehr News Agency quoted Brigadier General Khamoshi as saying, on the sidelines of the Army's ground forces' offensive security maneuver, "The Air Force is ready to carry out all the responsibilities and tasks assigned to it in all fields."
He added, "During the first night of the maneuvers, the army's helicopters carried out night flights using locally developed night vision equipment, which was installed on the helicopters, enabling them to carry out their missions with complete efficiency in complete darkness.. These helicopters were also deployed in the region, and made use of the latest advanced air equipment and weapons to carry out the assigned missions accurately."
Khamoshi continued, "This exercise consists of multiple and different stages, where the aircraft of the Army's Ground Forces accompanied and secured the movements of the special forces of the 65th Rapid Reaction Brigade, in addition to providing air support with fire."
The commander of the Iranian Army's Air Force concluded his speech by saying, "The Air Force carried out its first night air operations, which focused on transporting and taking off elements of the 65th Rapid Reaction Brigade. On the second day, daytime airdrops were carried out using Bell 214 attack helicopters, with the support of Cobra attack helicopters."
