Sana'a - Saba:

Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi on Tuesday visited the cardiology, catheterization center at Kuwait University Hospital in the capital, reviewing the center’s progress and the quality of services provided to citizens.

The visit highlighted the ongoing work of the center, particularly its contributions to the fourth free medical camp for heart and artery patients.

The Prime Minister toured the center's diagnostic and therapeutic services, which are organized into separate sections for men and women.

The center features six consulting clinics for heart diseases for both genders. Dr. Salah al-Shawki, the director of the center, explained that the services are almost entirely free, with special consideration given to families of martyrs, the wounded, and impoverished communities.

The Prime Minister also examined the center’s upcoming projects, including the completion of a medical catheterization unit, which is expected to be fully operational within two months. The unit is set to include some of the most advanced equipment in the field, further enhancing the center’s diagnostic capabilities. The center is preparing to open a new pediatric heart surgery unit, the first of its kind in Yemen, which is scheduled to open in two months.

Al-Rahawi praised the center’s charitable activities, which have included free medical camps for heart and artery patients in the capital and other areas. He encouraged the leadership of the center to expand these efforts to other districts and emphasized the importance of the newly-established pediatric heart disease unit.

In his address, the Prime Minister congratulated the doctors studying at the Egyptian Fellowship Center, the only accredited center in Yemen for Egyptian Fellowship certification, and commended their role in improving the country's health sector. He also highlighted the importance of the fellowship in reducing the need for Yemeni citizens to travel abroad for treatment.

Al-Rahawi further noted the significance of the developments in cardiology within Yemen, crediting the country's medical professionals and the efforts made despite the ongoing challenges of aggression and siege. He urged the trainees to continue their pursuit of knowledge and contribute to the country's development.

The Prime Minister also discussed the difficult conditions in the occupied governorates, particularly Aden, which faces significant challenges in providing basic services. He contrasted this with the stability and improvements seen in Sana'a, citing the region’s ability to maintain security and services amidst adversity.

Reflecting on the resilience of the Palestinian people, al-Rahawi praised the recent return of displaced Gaza residents to their homes, a strong testament to their determination and commitment to their land. He emphasized that such resolve leads to triumph and nation-building.

Dr. al-Shawki and his deputy, Dr. Mohammed al-Houthi, expressed their gratitude for the Prime Minister’s visit, which they said highlighted the growing success of the center. They also noted that the addition of the new catheterization device would significantly enhance the center's ability to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services.

The Heart Center is the only institution in Yemen offering Egyptian Fellowship certification, with internationally recognized diplomas. Both Dr. Al-Shawki and Dr. Al-Houthi reiterated their hope for continued support from relevant authorities, especially the General Authority for Zakat, to ensure the sustainability of the center’s charitable activities.
