ISIS carried out an overnight attack on "military bases" in Puntland state in northeastern Somalia on Tuesday with car bombs and motorcycle bombs.
Reuters news agency quoted "Puntland" forces spokesman, Mohamed Fadigo, in a statement saying: "After midnight, ISIS fighters attacked us in the recently liberated bases with car bombs and motorcycle bombs."
"We were attacked by many ISIS infantry," he said. "The fighting is still ongoing," he said.
According to the Somali News Agency reported on Tuesday that "security forces repelled attacks on military positions in the Hajaro and Togo Giselle regions in the Kal Meskad Mountains in Puntland."
